SPEAKER_02

Hi, I'm Clara. I'm Sophie. And I'm Deirdre. As an inspiring filmmaker, actress, and musician, we will deep dive into the world of music, movies, books, and everything in between. Welcome to the Geek Joker Podcast. Hey guys! Hi. Hello. Welcome back to the podcast. Oh yeah. Just continue as mine. Cloto wasn't here last week because she was sick.

SPEAKER_00

But she's here. I'm recovering. So my voice might sound a bit strange, but it's fine. Just ignore me. Actually, don't ignore what I have to say. Just ignore the quality of my voice. Oh god.

SPEAKER_02

Um, but yeah, because it's my birthday soon, I got to choose the topic of this week's episode. So I went with Oasis. Yay. I was actually gonna pick David Bowie, but we have that scheduled for later, so. Do we?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we do. Because it's for my birthday.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it's for your birthday. Yeah, our birthdays are like a month apart, so. Yeah, it's actually kind of weird. Yeah, it's like more or less exactly a month apart.

SPEAKER_02

Because most people I know like don't really have their birthdays around the times we have them.

SPEAKER_00

Mm. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or the year. Most people I know are the year above us. Yeah. Below what whatever. That's like 1964, yes. That old. Yeah. Um, so we're gonna talk about Oasis. Yeah. Or at first we'll like do a little debrief.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Good idea.

SPEAKER_02

What do you want to debrief?

SPEAKER_00

Well, I want to share that I've started watching a new series that I thought I should get the gang on to. Okay. Um have you ever heard of Arrested Development? Yes. Yes! Oh my god, yes. It's so good, isn't it? Yeah. I'm I'm season two, yeah, just started season two. Yeah, I'm not that far in. No, during when I was sick, I I couldn't really do anything, so I just watched the rest of development for like a day straight. And it's so good. Jason Bateman, he's like my new favourite actor, man, he's very talented.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he plays um the Fox in Zootopia, I think.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and he's in I watched another movie called Carrion, which is also very good. He's in that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, and then he was at the Oscars also. I I spotted him. I was like, oh my god, it's Jason Paylon! Niche. And then I like looked it, looked him up, and and then um he him and Will Arnett had a little reunion. So keep because Will Arnett's on it as well. Will Arnett is Lego Matman. He is, and he was on um Brickmasters or Lego Masters. So yeah, that's such a good show. It's about like a family that like their business is collapsing, and it's Michael, who's played by Jason Bateman, is trying to like clean it all up, and it's so funny.

SPEAKER_01

So messy at some time.

SPEAKER_00

Michael Sarah is in it when he's like young, like he's like probably like 13 or 14. Yeah, which is crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's so tiny, like did he like look the same when he was younger? Yeah, exactly. Or the the new Spider-Man trailer.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yes, that dropped. Oh we're in shock. It's it's gonna it's gonna be good. I think it's it's interesting to see how they're gonna fix the whole thing with him everyone forgetting who he is. Like that's probably was difficult to resolve.

SPEAKER_02

Like, are they though? I heard it's a theory though. So it's like like how is he gonna go about doing that, you know?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. You have to matter. You have to think about it, right? Because I heard this theory that you know the way Dr. Banner is like pr like Hulk, right? Yeah. So when Peter Parker was like made to forget everybody, like made everybody forget him, um Dr. Banner was the Hulk, right? But he's normal in the trailer, which means that he could remember him. Because like him and the Hulk are two separate personalities. Oh yeah, okay, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but that's different to like oh I get what you mean. But that's different to like everyone. Do you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and Ajay was seen with a new person a lot.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, she has a new boyfriend. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_02

It's so cute that they got married in real life though.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh, I'm I'm so excited. It's we have to wait so long for this movie though, and it's finally within when's it career? 31st of July. July. It's July. It got pushed up, yeah. And then Avengers Doomsday is not till December 70th, 18th. Oh, yeah. Yeah, so we're dialogue.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway, so I need to watch like every Marvel movie before then. I'm not on the lore, sadly.

SPEAKER_01

This was me before Deadpool Wolverine. I was like watching Fantastic Four and X-Men like all and around, like damn.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's it's good, it's a good franchise. But yeah, and also my new favourite song, well not favorite, it's one of the favourites, is by Fontaine's DC. Yeah, yeah. Oh nice. Yeah, no, I love that song. I've been listening to it every day. So that's what I wanted to tell you guys. Thanks.

SPEAKER_02

I remember when that came out. Yeah. Um, like I remember it came out I think August 24th, 2024, and then Oasis Reunited August 27th. So that kind of well, I imagine it kind of ruined Fontaine's DC. Fontaine Fon Fontaine's DC's week. Especially since then they said they didn't care that Oasis Reunited. I thought that was a bit mean to be honest. Yeah. They're like, we yeah, we don't care. Like, okay.

SPEAKER_00

I cared.

SPEAKER_01

But like Oasis Howard like has had fights with so many different people and bands over the years. It's like I was looking up a list and it's just it was so long. Like, yeah, it was so long because we put like so much, so many random people. We have obviously Blur, there's Fontaine CC, um George Harrison from The Beatles. Oh my god, yeah. Um talk about that. Who else was there? There was someone else as well.

SPEAKER_02

I remember they said they just hated the whole like rip pop thing. They didn't want to be a part of that. It's kind of too late for that, I think. Yeah. There's like a clip of Noel saying, like, no, we're not rip hop, we're Irish from all of that. It's like, yes. But no, he said they were all like weird. I'm pretty sure they don't like um what's his name? Brett Anderson from Suede. Damon doesn't like either.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. One thing in common is each other.

SPEAKER_02

Um but yeah, like where do where do we even begin?

SPEAKER_00

Because I don't know, it's a big subject.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, especially for me. Oh for context, Oasis have been like either my fave band or just like in my top couple for the past couple years, and I know pretty much everything about them and every song, and I saw them live. Oh, I need to tell my story. Go on. I say like I'm like cer some survivor of something of the oasis. Should I start with that? Yeah, yeah. Okay, well, here we go. You'll need to sit down for this one. Grab some popcorn. So I was like obviously a huge fan in 2024, then all the rumors came out. I remember it was the Monday, all the rumours came out that they were gonna reunite, and I was like, oh Jesus, that's this Friday. And then they posted, I think it was on the Thursday or the Wednesday, they posted like the 2708-24 thing. You know? Yeah. The like banner thing on Twitter. So I was like, oh my god, they're gonna announce something. And then August 27th, they I woke up at like I think I woke up at 6am. I think the announcement was at 8 a.m. But I really, really wanted to be awake, because I sat on some alarms, and I didn't know what it was gonna be on, so I downloaded Twitter, I downloaded Instagram, and then had like their TikTok pages open and stuff, and then it eight o'clock came, and I remember being like sick, I was so nervous for no reason, and I was refreshing all the pages, and then the announcer was actually two minutes late. I screen recorded the whole thing, by the way, hasn't deleted it yet, and then yeah, they reunite and all this, and then the ticket sale, the ticket sale was literally I think the day after or something. It all happened like really fast, like really fast, and then I didn't get tickets, and it was very sad. I was like 84,000th in the queue, and Crogue Park has a capacity of 80,000, so I was like wow, it's kind of over for me. But um then, fast forward to August of the next year, it's been a year, I've been in despair over not getting tickets, and it's just terrible. The weekend they're coming to Dublin on the Thursday, no, on the they were coming on the Saturday and the Sunday on the Thursday I was like, I don't want to be in Dublin when they're here, because I was dramatic like that. We went to another part of the country, and then on the Friday, or whenever it was, I don't know. I checked my email. It's the day before the concert, and I realized the day before that I had been emailed a ticket about a ticket a no, not emailed a ticket, emailed a link to a ticket sale, some last minute thing, and I was like, Oh my god, I missed my chance to get oasis tickets because it had expired by then. So I start crying on the train in front of everyone, like sobbing, like oh my god, just like crying for like 15 minutes straight. My dad was like, oh my god, and then we get to where we were staying, went to bed that night, it was just bad. Awake up the next morning at a couple of minutes to 12, and my dad calls up to me and he's like, Will you check Ticketmaster? I think there's a sale on or something, and I was like, Oh, there's just not like what so I opened Ticketmaster and there is a sale on, but you need a code. I checked my email, I haven't been emailed been emailed a code, so I was like, Well, that's that, and then I was like, What if I try putting the expired code? Just see what happens. So I put in the expired code and it said code expired, and I was like, Yeah, fair. Then I looked back at the screen, I didn't refresh or anything, and the tickets are just there. Oh my god, and I was like, nah, this isn't legit. So I just picked two random ones. I don't even remember what the other options were. They could have been standing or something, and I just didn't see it. So I picked two random ones, and then it brought me to the checkout, and then it was just like asking for card details, and I was like, Dad. Um and I remember my dad, like it took him so long to like verify it in the bank app, and I was like stressing, and then we got the tickets. But we were on the other side of the country, and it was five hours before the show, and we were five hours away. So we jumped in the car, and within ten minutes we were on the road, and we drove pretty fast, I can't lie. We didn't stop at all, and then we had actually had a canoe on the roof of the car because we were gonna go canoeing that day. So my dad had to like take that off. It was like so stressful. I thought you were gonna say the situation. Canoe like two oasis. Yeah, two girls actually did that. Yeah, that's right. The the canal, yeah. Um, but we made it back. We missed the first half of cast, who were the first opener, but we saw all of Richard Ashcroft set and then Oasis.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah. I won't talk about the concert just yet because I've been talking for quite a while, but yes, that was how I got tickets. So my advice to you is try expired codes in Ticketmaster because for some reason it worked, and there was actually I told this other girl who really wanted tickets, but I had done because she'd been in the same situation, and the expired code worked for her too. I don't know what happened there, but some sort of glitch, but yeah, it's very lucky.

SPEAKER_00

I remember when you got tickets and you texted me, and I was just so happy. I think I told my mum, I was like, Mom, dude, I got tickets for oasis. And we're like, oh same. I was like, guys, do you sure got tickets for oasis?

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, it was like mad. I remember being sure they like wouldn't work too, just sure they wouldn't, and then you know they did. I remember being in the stadium and being like, oh my god, it was mad. You know, I wished upon a shooting star once. In the in the place, I'm not I'm trying not to say where, but the five hours away place when I was there a couple months before, I was listening to Champagne Supernova and I saw a shooting star, it was like so cinematic, and I was like, I wish for Oasis tickets, and then it happened. Like a month later. Isn't that mad? It's crazy. Oh, but yeah, but so what do you guys want to say?

SPEAKER_01

Like, that's crazy to be honest. I don't think we can really like yeah, we can't really top that at all. It was literally like, oh my god, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Never been so lucky in my entire life.

SPEAKER_01

Mad. I remember like when when they made the announcement that they were reuniting, like everybody was like, oh my god, like a waste and blur. Oh, it was so funny.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they were like the most demanded tickets of the last decade or something. I think in the UK and Ireland alone, there was like 30 million people trying to get tickets that already. Like, who even are all these fans? I remember being so upset about this because I was a huge fan, and I was like, why are all these random people trying to get tickets to see my favourite band?

SPEAKER_01

Like they could choose any band. I remember that was literally it was like it was talk about the reunion, and then it was like, oh my god, like the tickets are gonna be crazy, like it's gonna be crazy.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, also prices. I my tickets were about 130 each, which is more than I've ever spent on concert tickets. Like that is expensive.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

People would go to me, oh that's so good, and like, yeah, I get what you mean. I know someone who bought a ticket for one grand tonight for the concert. But like, that shouldn't be normal, do you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

That's criminal.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I wonder how much of the money actually because the thing is, I'm not defending the ticket prices, they were like terrible, but I'm guessing a fair bit of that money went to all the people involved. Because how could a secret as big as Oasis Reuniting like that's huge? How is that kept a secret? To the rumors like the four days before the announcement. Man, like the amount of work put in must have been wild.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for sure. What's your favourite album?

SPEAKER_02

Be here now.

SPEAKER_00

Cola. Hi here, man. Um I I don't know. I like I I'm just gonna say now I don't know Oasis that well. Like, I really like their popular songs and the ones that you guys have recommended to me.

SPEAKER_02

I can make you a playlist if you want of niche Oasis tracks. I literally used to listen to the unreleased Oasis tracks on my way to school each morning on SoundCloud.

SPEAKER_00

Like Um, yeah, Playlist sounds great, but I don't know, I don't really have a favourite album.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, I think you'd like I think you'd like a live eight-track demo.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's good on.

SPEAKER_02

I just think you'd like it.

SPEAKER_00

We'll check it out.

SPEAKER_02

What about you, Sophie Fave album?

SPEAKER_01

Live with Debworth. That's a really good shout, actually. It's a good album.

SPEAKER_02

Can we just talk about how crazy Debworth was though? Liam was 23, playing to half a million people, or then maybe a quarter, over like two days. But yeah, to think in 1991 they weren't known at all. Then 1994 definitely maybe you know, start with then 1995, just as no one thought they could top, definitely maybe they did. It was Story Morning Glory. And then by 1996, Nabworth. Yeah. That's mad. I think that's one of the biggest concerts of all time. Maybe the 10th or something.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was crazy, like there were so many people there as well. No, no, there's for real. No, no, no my gosh. No, no, no, no, it's right. I actually had better point, thoughts. I was just thinking about this. Okay, right. It's crazy that the amount of people that were there and like the fact that how young he was, even though when he started like with the band and he was only like 23.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, 23 at Nebworth.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, at Nebworth, 23 at Nebworth. There were definitely people who were like triple his age. Yeah. Okay, yeah, for real.

SPEAKER_02

Like, let's go. Like, yeah, isn't he?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I I do like that album. I have listened to that one in full, I think. I believe.

SPEAKER_02

I think my favourite is Acquia Slibborth 1996 because of the harmonies. Yeah. Harmony is literally, oh my god, it's amazing.

SPEAKER_00

They released that as part of the new Warchild album, but it's not on the album, but it's like a separate one. Oh, yeah. From Wembley though.

SPEAKER_02

I remember I saw I got an email about that. It was like, do you want to buy this Oasis vinyl to listen to this new hidden unreleased track? And I was like, What? A new Oasis song? What? That's so unfair. I don't have a record there. And then I found out it was just Acquiesce Live. And it's like, I don't care. Like, I thought it was at Wembley or something. Yeah, Wembley. Yeah. The live track from Dublin is wonderful. I'm in I'm in that song, by the way, guys. And like 80,000 other people.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Cast No Shadow on that album I quite like it.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. Oh sorry, that's what I meant to say. Did I say Acquias?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, I meant Cast No Shadow, The Harmony in Cast No Shadow.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Aqueus is actually true.

SPEAKER_01

My favourite is the Master Plan. Yeah, I think it's so good.

SPEAKER_02

I remember when Noel played the Master Plan when I saw them, and just hearing him say, like, all we know is what we don't know, how it's gonna be. And I was thinking, like, that is so true. Because last night I did not think I would be here at all. At the concert, I mean, not like oh god, I'm sorry. Jeez. Jeez. It's bad, but it wasn't that bad. Um no, um, you know, so that I was like, that was like life-changing for me. Yeah, because I was like a new mindset. I'm not gonna try and predict the future.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But live in the now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And um, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Where did okay, so basically I've decided, so before this episode, I was kind of reading out facts I saw on Google, and you're just like, oh yeah, I know that one. She knew every single one. Yeah. So I have one question. Where did Oasis get their name from?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, um, a local. It was a local shop, right? But here we are. They said that loads of places in their area had the name Oasis. I've read this in the book, okay? That's like the Bible of Oasis.

SPEAKER_01

Called that Bible of Oasis.

SPEAKER_02

Was it a local takeaway face or something? Or a hairdresser or something?

SPEAKER_01

I think it was like a leisure center.

unknown

Okay, whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Very close though.

SPEAKER_02

No, literally, look at it like they said loads of places for those oasis basically. And they were actually originally called The Rain, so Yeah, that's true.

SPEAKER_01

I flash like that one.

SPEAKER_02

Um you wrote fans of Manchester City. This is like the sole reason why I lean towards Manchester City and any conversation about football. Claudia know anything about football city. Yeah, Manchester City.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Should should we reveal our football opinions here? Me and Claude are like We're United fans. Yeah. True and true. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

The red.

SPEAKER_00

The red devil.

SPEAKER_02

And then it's just like Well the blue is so much nicer anyway. Blue's my favourite colour, so like.

SPEAKER_01

Well, blue's my favourite colour, but like here we are. Um What was the Royals Royce incident? Royals Royce incident.

SPEAKER_02

Like in the pool?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The be here now cover.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think I'll just put a Royals Royce in the pool.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I don't.

SPEAKER_02

There's a not a car, there's a drunk in the pool in the back and I'm gonna music videos.

SPEAKER_00

How much did the Royals Royce cost? Sophia, I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

How much did it cost?

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I actually don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah. Or can we talk about the phenomenon real quick? Oh every time we go into our local bookshop, or me, but it happens when they're there too, because I'm there and it's you know, I'm the like summoner of this phenomenon. Yeah, sure. But every time I go into our local bookshop, they play Oasis. Oh yeah. I have like videos of this, it's so weird. Oh, walk in and they'll be playing another song, and then the next song that comes. On Will Be Oasis. And it's like niche songs too. Like Lila isn't exactly niche. You know, it's one of the most popular ones in heathen chemistry, but it's not like you know. Yeah. It's not one of like the popular songs. Or like one time I was in there and I had my headphones on, and I think I don't know what I was listening to, but I was reading in a magazine about What's a Story Morning Glory. I take off the headphones, and at the exact moment I read What's a Story Morning Glory, I hear that line. Oh my gosh, stop. This is when I was by myself and it was mad. So cool.

SPEAKER_01

That just isn't in the bookshop though. Like it's also happened in other shops. Do you remember that's when we were getting burgers in like that one place? And then we started playing Oasis. But Deodra had gone to the bathroom, so me and Claudia were like, oh my god, like she has to come back and I was such a fright when I came back because you were just like staring at me and I thought something like bad at that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we were like pointing at the ceiling, like somebody said Deirdre, and I was like, what? And then he was like, listen, and I was like, oh my god. But yeah, it's it's crazy to be honest.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, do you know what something I think is really cool? Is do you know what I mean? Has Morse code in it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, what is that about?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I think we talked about this before ages ago.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because I I like spam tested deirdre, because I like Oh, I remember it. I was like, yo, like, is this Morse code? And I googled it and it's a yeah.

SPEAKER_02

It it does translate into words. I can't remember what they are though.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think yeah, but I don't think they have like that much of a meaning though, because I tried to like see what it meant.

SPEAKER_02

I think it was just random words. There's a lot of sort of like Easter eggs in Oasis songs. Yeah. Like you'll hear random things. Or I at the end of the master plan on the studio version, someone sings Octopus's garden in like a really weird voice. And it always really swears.

SPEAKER_01

It says the Morse code in the background of voices is do you know what I mean? Is generally considered to be distorted or random rather than a clear, coherent message.

SPEAKER_00

Is that the AI overview by shots?

SPEAKER_01

No, it's Reddit.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, through the AI overview. Oh my days. They tried to tap out Vogar at all using a code book inspired by Strawberry Fields. Right. Oh. Um what was I gonna say? Do you what do you guys think of all the do you think Noel is a good songwriter or that he just steals from other people?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I feel like I'm just not really sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think I don't feel qualified enough to speak to that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Ah, well, like, don't look back at anger. Even the chords okay, I was gonna play it, but I actually just don't want to, because it'll probably be wrong. The chords at the start of Don't Look Back at Anger. Yeah, that's from Imagine by John Lyman. Um Wonderwall, the name Wonderwall is taken from a George Harrison album from I think 1967. Don't quote me. Called Wonderwall Music. And yeah, and then there's loads of other stuff. Um, like one of my favourite Oasis tracks, Step Out, which is one of the B sides to Don't Look Back at Anger. It was actually um, I always thought it sounded really like not Oasis style kind of song. It's one of those novel things, but it basically completely stole Stevie Wonder's song, Up Tight. So he sued and got credits on the song. And Coca-Cola sued them for a couple million because you know Shaker Maker? Oh that's I'd like to teach the world to sing. Do you know that song? We studied it in YouTube. Oh yeah. Um but that was from a Coca-Cola ad. I think that was a success. I think they successfully sued them. But yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh. Here's something to do with Oasis.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

That I well, not really though, but whatever. Um there is a play running at the moment in England, I think it's Southampton or somewhere. And it's a play about Oasis and Blur and their rivalry. It's called The Battle. And yeah, some there's a guy playing Damon, a guy playing Lehman. No. Yeah. See, I would definitely consider going, but it's not like in London, so it's a bit tough to get to, but maybe one day, guys. Maybe one day. Yeah. And it's I think there's songs and acting.

SPEAKER_01

Great. I wonder how they like impit that to get the licensing for the like music. Yeah, honestly.

SPEAKER_02

That's pretty cool to be honest. Or do you guys think Liam and Noel genuinely didn't speak to each other for 15 years?

SPEAKER_01

No, it's I feel like they kinda Do you ever just like text people randomly but you say like random things? I feel they just kinda text for that.

SPEAKER_02

But I feel like Noel wouldn't like reply.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So it'd be like a one-way thing, but they definitely saw it.

SPEAKER_02

Genuinely imagine your sibling just ignoring you for over a decade though. Ugh. The blessed. Sorry, what? You'd be like, oh come on, like.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I don't know, it's like I wouldn't say they they spoke too much. Because it would sort of be weird if you just had a conversation with someone once every three years, you know.

SPEAKER_02

I'd say the reunion was in the works since 2021 or something. At least I don't know. Like sure.

SPEAKER_01

They went to like anger management therapy classes together. Wait, let's get a reunion going.

SPEAKER_02

No, because you know what's mad? Like they haven't done an interview together or anything since the reunion. They've been photographed going into a studio. That was okay. And then obviously on stage and stuff. I remember when I saw them, Noel didn't say anything really. The image spoke a bit, but Noel didn't say much at all. And he sang the songs and just laughed.

SPEAKER_00

Jeez. So like, are they doing it for the the love of music or is it for the money?

SPEAKER_02

Well, yeah, people say like they did it because Noel lost loads of money in their divorce the previous years. But he's still a multimillionaire, do you know what I mean? Yeah. So it's like Liam has a okay, I feel like I should have already been saying this. But Noel makes way more money off the songs because songwriting royalties earns you way more money than singing. Even though some people think that shouldn't be how it is. But it is how it is. So and also during away this we didn't let Noel like entirely handle all the finances and stuff, so who knows what kind of dealing with. But yeah. So I don't I don't know. Because they never really got on the cricket bat incident. Should should we should we mention the time?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's sure. Let's mention the incidents. I have a list here. Oh gosh. I'll run through them. What have you got? Why are you writing? I've got the tambourine incident, the cricket bat incident.

SPEAKER_02

The tambourine incident is just Liam throwing a tambourine at Noel's head.

SPEAKER_01

And not even that bad.

SPEAKER_02

And the like thing before um Paris, where they actually broke off. Yeah. Okay, so the Cricut bat incident. Okay, let me think now. Because it's been about a year since I was like a proper hardcore Oasis fan, you know what I mean? But um they were recording for What's the Story of Morning Glory in this like random shed thing. Oh my god, we should talk about the haunted studio. Okay. One of the places they recorded What's the Story of Morning Glory? One of the days Liam brought back all these like strangers from the pub, and Noel was like, Okay, no, I'm recording, tell them to leave. And Liam was like, No, they're my friends, and we're having a party. So then they got in like a big fight, and then I guess Liam was just kind of annoying Noel or something, I don't know. But Noel picked up a cricket bat and whacked Liam across the back of the head with him. Oh my god! That's intense illethal. But Liam passed out, and then Noel, neither of them could drive, so Noel had to get someone to drive him. He was like, You have to drive me out of here. My brother's crazy. So they got in a car, but Liam magically revived himself and chased after the car and threw a bin in it. And Noel was like Oh my god. But yeah. But it was when Noel left the band for two weeks that he wrote Talk Tonight, which is one of my favourite races songs. The first song I learnt on guitar too. Aww. But um, yeah. Wow. There are many incidents, by the way. What was the one I mentioned a second ago? The what happened with the Paris one? Oh, when they broke up. Yeah. They were meant to play the Rock en Seine Festival in Paris in 2009, but backstage they just got in a big fight, and then Liam started breaking Noel's guitars, and then Noel just left the band. Oh sorry, and Liam threw a plum at Noel and Noel left the band. Plum? Yes. Like a free. The plum that broke Oasis. Oh my god. Like a big thing. And he was just like, he threw it at Noel. I don't know if it actually hit Noel, but it must have really annoyed Noel because he didn't talk to him for like a decade then.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna carry a plum around with me at all times and throw it at someone and be like, I'm a top worker for ten years.

SPEAKER_01

Imagine not to imagine not how I'm gonna do something for a decade because they threw a plum at you.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, and when they they recorded in a haunted studio, the band collectively decided, I feel like it was Noel who was kind of a puppet master here, to convince Liam that there was like a ghost. So he didn't know these like obscure tricks or like moved around his furniture when he was asleep. Eventually Liam had had enough and he ran away. But he came back.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

Where's the integrity?

SPEAKER_02

But I remember at the Oasis concert, it was like it was the loudest thing I've ever experienced. Like it's loud to the point where like you can't actually properly hear. It's like loads of no, it's good. But it's like Noel could have played a wrong note on guitar and you wouldn't have noticed because it's just so loud.

SPEAKER_01

How much practice do you reckon they had to do to get back to the level they were? Oh, I wouldn't say much though.

SPEAKER_02

Liam probably had to do loads and loads of voice training though. He he sounded really, really good at Oasis, but in previous years he didn't sound great.

SPEAKER_01

Good for him. Yeah. I think the first one like they probably tested was then to be like, do your voice training, do your practice. Oh, that was so aggravated.

SPEAKER_02

No, but like the lengths that were put the lengths that were the lengths that were went to to keep them apart on the tour was mad. Like they stayed in different counties when they came to Ireland. They got separate planes everywhere. I'm pretty sure they had different like backstage rooms and they'd like come off the stage like separately.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Actually no, I remember at my show they came out like arms around each other, which is nice.

SPEAKER_00

Huh? Brotherly love. Um but yeah. Wow. Um why do you think they were so successful? Like, especially in the 90s? Like, what what makes them great?

SPEAKER_02

Um well some people say that they were sort of just uh more modern Beatles. That's why they did so well, because they were obviously hugely inspired by the Beatles. But I don't think that's it. I think it was just kind of like probably the whole attitude and stuff. Do you know what I mean? Plus Oasis is very like when you listen to it, you just feel good, like you feel happy. It's just so like life's great, it's so like motivational. So I think people just liked hearing it. And they put Neem's a great singer, like yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I do think that they definitely have a a sound, you know. Yeah like you'd you'd know instantly if it was an oasis song. Like I feel like a lot of them start very similarly. A lot of their songs. Yeah, like it's just the electric guitar.

SPEAKER_02

One of my favourite songs, listen up, is literally a mix of two Oasis songs. Um, Live Forever and uh Head and Hands. Why can I not remember? Wait.

SPEAKER_00

Nope, she's gone. Oh god, the art moves. Should you pick it out, CD? Oh my days.

SPEAKER_02

Um yeah, like one of my favourite Oasis Longs Listen off is literally just a mix of Live Forever and Supersonic. You can like kind of hear them both when you're listening. I think my favourite song that they played live was Bring It On Down. It's just so so good. And that was one of the ones they played when it was like still bright. Because I I all the songs were better when it got dark because they'd have all the flashing lights, it was just really fun. But yeah. I also one of my favourite albums of all time is Noel's album with the high flying birds. The self-titled.

SPEAKER_01

It's really oh I thought that was just like the like the name of the album. No, I thought that was like I thought you were gonna say the name of the album, but that is like the name of the album.

SPEAKER_02

Long other, yeah. Look at this CD I have, it came with a little book. And a DVD too. Oh cool. It's for you. Oh, that's great. Oasis or blur?

SPEAKER_01

Blur Oasis.

SPEAKER_02

I can't lie, I would have to say Oasis. I'm thinking very Oasis is just like everything to me.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. Like even the way we're sitting, like you two are opposite, just me. Oh, yeah. I'm here for blur. Yeah, like I like Oasis, but no competition in my eyes.

SPEAKER_02

That's fair.

SPEAKER_00

Thanks. Appreciate it. But yeah. Um is next we've said. I actually don't know. Guess we'll find out with the listeners. Um yeah, I also do want to say that the people who are listening, please go to the Instagram Instagram page. It's just getting up and running, like it is very, very small at the moment. But we know there are more people listening than are following the Instagram. We know that for a fact. So it's at Geek Yogurt Podcast. Yogurt is with a H. Um, and I'm going, I've sort of taken charge of time pins. So if he was on, but there will be more regular posts, and there's a post with every new episode on the story, which will be put in highlights under episodes. So it's all very organized. But please, please follow it. Um once we hit a hundred followers on Instagram, we'll celebrate somehow. Yeah, we'll do it.

SPEAKER_02

Shout out every single one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we'll do a shout- a fed up shout-out with musical accompaniment.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, which of you guys is it that got a harmonica?

SPEAKER_00

I have one, but Sophie has a new one.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you should both learn the swamp song High Oasis.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

SPEAKER_02

They used to walk out to it in the 90s. No, they don't.

SPEAKER_00

Cool.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I know what I'm doing this evening. Or if you have a kazoo, you could learn the kazoo line from Be Here Now. I've never discovered who it is that plays the kazoo in Be Here Now. It's very sad. I hope it's not. That's funny. So that's one of my favourite Oasis songs. Be Here Now from Be Here Now.

unknown

It's crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, well if you guys had to recommend one song, one song only, for someone who's never listened to Oasis before and you want to get them into it.

SPEAKER_02

Listen up, probably.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think so. Oh, I know.

SPEAKER_00

It doesn't have to be deep cut.

SPEAKER_01

Or slide away. Yeah. Really can't go wrong with slide away. That one's a good one. Because I played the master plan for like my sister and she did not like it, and I was like, Oh, it's a good song. No, it was just the harmonica at the start because we were kind of like listening to music together, and I was playing the likes of like Miley Cyrus, and then I like switched up to this, and she was like, What is this?

SPEAKER_02

And I was like, It was actually a video of Graham Cox and playing that on harmonica. Um, but I think Morning Glory is the most oasis oasis song, and it's probably the coolest one. Yeah, for that one just the start. Oh my god. Oh, I love she's electric as well, actually. Helicopters and stuff. I remember, oh, she's electric while my guitar gently weeps. That's what that song sampled.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

unknown

Hmm.

SPEAKER_00

There you go. Oh, thanks for listening, everyone. We will see you next week. Next Tuesday.

unknown

Bye.
