Hi, I'm so I'm Sophie, and I'm Deirdre. As an aspiring filmmaker, actress, and musician, we will deep dive into the world of music, movies, books, and everything in between. Welcome to the EJ Ogre Podcast. Hey guys! Hi! Hello, um, and welcome to our last episode. Of season one. Yeah, before an indefinite pause. We don't know how long. Of the summer, and then we'll see. And then and then yeah, we have a packed schedule. Um, but yeah, this is episode 25, so it's a recorder. Oh no, so it's like a perfect season one. Yeah. That's so cool. Um but yeah, we thought we'd just do like a bit of a a reflection of our podcast memory so far. Yeah. How we found it and just what the what the crack is.
SPEAKER_03Inspire you to start your own podcast.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Some people have actually the yogurt podcasts. A lot of yeah, a lot of the the I told you not to look. Um for context, I'm drawing David. This is actually just so embarrassing to say it. I'm drawing David Bowie as a My Little Pony character. And Sophie wasn't meant to look until I was finished drawing, but she just looked. I'm sorry, I didn't read this. But um Okay, let's get into it. Um well, yeah, I guess out of the 25 episodes, what has been our favourite episode to eat the recorder overall in a bunch.
SPEAKER_00I remember really enjoying the Christmas episode.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I actually really liked the Christmas one. And the well, I don't think you were here for it, but the Irish one. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_00That was funny.
SPEAKER_03The Irish one was funny, I think.
SPEAKER_00The editing in that is so bad because we just keep laughing.
SPEAKER_03Like at everything.
SPEAKER_01It's actually diabolical. I've never listened to the Marble episode. Really? Yeah. That was actually pretty like long heavy. Yeah, we got through a lot of stuff. Um but my thanks for asking.
SPEAKER_03My favourite one is um No, I'm don't wait, I thought wait, I didn't I got confused about who like answered. Okay. What is your favourite episode, Cloda?
SPEAKER_01Probably the Sherlock one. I feel like we just we did a really good job on that one. Like we covered a lot of stuff, and it did pretty well, all things considered, like listen-wise.
SPEAKER_03I'm actually gonna correct mine. I actually really liked doing the Hunger Games one. That was really funny. The granola games. Yeah, the granola games one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Hmm. I think maybe we should discuss like how we we come up with ideas and sort of what happened there. Because at the start we made a big list of loads of like really niche things that we wanted to talk about, and then somewhere along the lines it sort of got lost. So I think that a lot of people have said to me, anyways, that the episodes are pretty niche and a bit all over the place, like what they're about, you know? Like one week we could be talking about I don't know, Dead Poet Society, and then the next week it's like Oasis. Oasis. Like it's they're different different fandoms, I suppose. Um but like it's I think it's a testament to say that there is something for everyone. Yeah, maybe not everything is for everyone, do you know?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Agreed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But um, are there any things that you guys wanna like for the next season or whenever that happens, like what are your priorities for episodes? Um I don't know.
SPEAKER_03See what like Barbie? Yeah, Barbie'd be a good one.
SPEAKER_00Sorry. That would be a good one.
SPEAKER_03We can see what like I feel like I'm being quized by a teacher. We can see what like the listeners want to like listen to as well.
SPEAKER_01Give the people what they want. Yeah, give the people what they want. Does anyone have colours?
SPEAKER_03No, unfortunately.
SPEAKER_00No, I can't call it to go upstairs. What is your favourite part of the whole podcasting process?
SPEAKER_03I think my favorite part is probably somehow trying to fall up with the idea and then like eventually recording it. Because the chats we have beforehand is actually like Yeah. Their form.
SPEAKER_01I'd say yeah, because we usually like just talk for like a couple of hours before we actually get on. Yeah, like we've been here for two hours and we just we don't need to talk about today's conversation. No, we're not talking about the conversation. Very interesting and very very spontaneous. Um but no, I think for me it's just hanging out with my friends.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I always look forward to it every week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure. Even though like the actual like recording of the podcast has like become a bit of a chore, you know, and like coming up with an idea. Sorry, no, I mean in a good way, but like coming up with an idea. Yeah, one of those good chores. But like people have like the episodes have gotten progressively shorter. Yeah. Like we started off with like they're getting an hour, and I was like, yeah, get a 20 minutes like cool. That's true. But I mean I think it's it's quality over quantity. Mm-hmm. You know? Because we people, I don't think, want to listen to like hour-long. Yeah, because you remember the first couple episodes, we would be really nervous. Yeah. That was so strange. Didn't we we recorded the Damon episode twice? We recorded the we tried to do the band-aid one in our other recording space and it was just so bad. Yeah. Yeah, I remember I had to like put the foot down and like I said, you have to do it again. Because like it was I think I said we should do it again. No, it was me. No, it was me. I'm not even gonna argue. But it was Because I remember I had the Lazarus store prepared and you just didn't, so I was like, this isn't gonna work. You guys should have something to really? Yes. But there was definitely one where maybe it was a day one episode, I think. Because the pilot went so well. The pilot we did do twice, but the second time it went really well. Remember we did a demo. Yeah, it was for some reason because I think at the start it was like hard to get into the swing of it. I mean, it comes and goes, but yeah, because especially we record in the evenings a lot, so people are tired. Especially after talking already for two hours. Yeah. But yeah. It's been it's been an interesting experience, I think. Because it's it's definitely it's not something anyone we've known we know has done, you know? So we have gained some local attention. Yeah. But no, it's been nice. You know, like putting yourself out there, like it's sort of maybe it's not an embarrassing thing to do, but it is like a like a big step up from where we usually hover, you know. Yeah. But I think it's been good in like confidence and like learning about like I don't know, maintaining some sort of social media presence such steering is probably carried.
SPEAKER_03And then also Yeah, the TikTok is actually very good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, the TikTok needs to blow that one off. But also getting the equipment together and like making a schedule and stuff. Like they're interest they're interesting skills to like, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It was interesting, like seeing what equipment we actually needed because remember that time like we had the big like Oh my god, yeah, the audio interface. Yeah, that was just Oh my god, I forgot that. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Basically what happened is we like what the what do you think? Oh, here's the drawing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it looks good. The My Little Pony. Post it on the TikTok. The My Little Bowie. The My Little Bowie And it's like thingy, it's like a star. Oh and the outfit was inspired by this one outfit that I don't know the name of.
SPEAKER_01Who else should I draw? I don't know. Draw someone we'll guess. That's a good idea. Yeah. Okay. Like we're entertaining a child. Like just let us do our work here. Um the audio interface. Oh yeah. It was like German. Yeah, I ordered it from Germany. Because like I I'd say people can probably tell that we have like a minimum budget for this. Like absolutely below minimum. Um so we tried to sort of just get the bare like the basics. And something I the internet persuaded me that was like integral to like this. It was an audio interface. So I had to get it from like a music shop in Germany, and it sort of blew the budget. And then when we got it, it just didn't have to write like blocks or anything. Yeah, it just didn't really work.
SPEAKER_00So we needed to- Why would we even need that though? I don't know.
SPEAKER_01It does the job of this thing, because it's like uh Kinex, because we usually have three mics, now we're just down to one, because like whatever.
SPEAKER_03We've been down to one for the past like few months.
SPEAKER_01They keep breaking, yeah. So it's like whoever I dropped mine within like two weeks. But it didn't actually break, I just lost the cable. Like it actually still works really well. Because remember that time we used it. Yeah, sometimes like they break and then they just randomly fix themselves after a couple of weeks off.
SPEAKER_03Needs like a resting period.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I remember once I can't remember which episode it was that I had to edit and I like and it sounded like otherworldly like that.
SPEAKER_03So Gloria was like texting us and she was like, guys.
SPEAKER_01I was panicking. Because it was like the night before it was meant to be released, um, because I did leave it last minute, as I usually do. And I was like, I can't fix this. So I don't even know. I think I just had to delete we had two mics that day and I just deleted one of them and it was fine. But yeah. Um but the audio interface didn't work, so we had to send it back. But now and then we went to the electronic shop and like locally and got a thing for a tanner, which does the exact same job. If you guys really do like one thing different, like if we were to do it again for whatever reason, and you'd do one thing differently, or change one thing about it, what would it be?
SPEAKER_02Um like it could be So stick to the list of the episode ideas that we had instead of like freestyling.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I think freestyling isn't bad because then it makes it more kind of natural. Yeah. Yeah. Conversation, like and often the time it ends up, we just get here and we're like, so what are we gonna do? Yeah. Which I do think if we'd done a bit of preparation for it, probably would be better. Yeah. Actually, I think my favourite one was the Truman Show episode, but when I like re-listened to that, I would like fast forward every 15 minutes, and like I like did not shut off in that episode.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Like, oh my god. But it was fun. Why did you like not deny, Claudia? Did you edit that one or did I?
SPEAKER_01I did. Yeah. I had a lot to say. You did. Fair. Again, the only one who came prepared. At the start it was sort of me who was prepared the most, and then it I just didn't. Endeavor did. And Sophie just hung. I don't usually prepare something. Oh, yeah, yeah. Really? I feel like you just know more stuff than you. Huh? You just know more stuff than you can.
SPEAKER_03The Oasis one you were so prepared for though.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I didn't look anything up there. I think I looked up I didn't look up stuff, but I compiled a list for the St. Patrick's Day episode. Yeah. And I looked up oh, the I think the main two I looked stuff up for, or the main three. Band-Aid, uh, The Truman Show and The Blair Witch Project. That was a good episode, actually.
SPEAKER_03Actually, yeah, I like the Blair Witch one as well.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that worked because like we'd all seen it like at the same time pretty recently. Yeah. What's your least favourite episode? Maybe the bookshelf episode.
unknownReally?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Loki, maybe that one. Or why is the AI episode like genuinely the episode of doom and despair?
SPEAKER_00Just also being so pessimistic for like 40 minutes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. That one's a bit it's it applies, but like not really at the same time. Because it's more like technical and debatey, but then the rest of them are just like reviewing type stuff. But I mean I think it's it still applies, you know? It's it's good to to do different like because we tried out different stuff at the start and sort of then stuck to what worked for us, anyways.
SPEAKER_03The conspiracy theories episode was kind of funny as well, though.
SPEAKER_01Do you have them open? Oh yeah. I don't really remember what we talked about in that one.
SPEAKER_03It was just literally like the Illuminati.
SPEAKER_01I wasn't really stressed about that one to be honest. Why? Because I thought we could we're gonna get like hunted or something by these people.
SPEAKER_03We're talking about the Illuminati.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. That's crazy. I didn't like the office one that much. Why? Well, because we recorded half of it at like 12 o'clock at night and the other half at like 10 o'clock in the morning.
unknownOh yeah.
SPEAKER_01It's like falling asleep. Yeah. Hmm. But what can you do? Change it. Or the names of the episodes also are quite good.
SPEAKER_03Kudos to Clodo for the descriptions. Me and Deirdre tried to do it like regularly.
SPEAKER_01No, actually, hold on. Actually, whenever I edit these days, I always have to do the descriptions. Yeah. I think do you think people would be able to notice who has done which?
SPEAKER_00I think so. My descriptions are genuinely just the same thing every week. I say, like, hey guys, welcome back to the podcast this week. And then after that, I say we've got everything from whatever to whatever.
SPEAKER_01That's that's everything from us, I think.
SPEAKER_03Thank you guys so much for listening.
SPEAKER_01Yes, couldn't have done it without you. It's been a long journey. How long have you been doing this? Since December.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Thanks for the support as well, like. It's much appreciated. Yeah. And the feedback on the episodes and what we should improve.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you go team. Yeah, and make sure to keep track of if we come back or when we come back. Yeah. We'll probably announce it on the TikTok or whatever in advance.
SPEAKER_03On the TikTok.
SPEAKER_01On the TikTok again. Um and yeah, uh, listen to all the episodes again if you want, recommend it to friends, family, whoever. Um, and thank you. And this has been a wonderful, wonderful experience for us all.
SPEAKER_00Yes, it has.
SPEAKER_02Yep.
SPEAKER_01Alright, bye.
SPEAKER_02Bye, thank you.
